If this new Battery Tender is as reliable as the last one, I'll be well satisfied--the old one lasted at least 25 years in constant use on a classic-car battery, and only heralded its failure by finally going berserker and cooking the battery dry--which, by the way, also lasted some 12 years using the battery tender, three times the normal life of a common wet-cell type. I alternate it between the car battery and a pair of large motorcycle batteries connected together, and THOSE batteries are still functional after six years.If anything, the quality of construction and materials on the new one exceed that of the original--heavier wiring and clamps, larger indicators, bigger cooling slots. The only failing is the design of the clamps/ring-connection as one unit, an 'either-or' situation; The old one came with interchangeable complete harness assembles that could be swapped between battery types just by unplugging one and plugging in the other. Such a separate harness is available for the new one, but at additional cost.
