It was just as the reviews said. It keeps my cord from falling off of the desk, but could be better. It is made of plastic, but looks like it is metal. Since it is plastic, it is lighter than it looks. I haven't had any problems with it falling off the desk, however, I only have one cable in it at the moment. The light is good if you need to plug your device in when it is dark, but the motion detector part doesn't function as far as I can tell. I just turn it on and off from the switch in the back if I need the light. Would recommend it as long as you know what you are getting. Was going to order the smaller one without the light, but not sure if that would be heavy enough. Would be great if they had more weight to them.UPDATE: After posting this review, the company CONTACTED ME! (I didn't have to contact them) and explained some units were faulty and they would be happy to replace it. However, I may have been using it wrong as I don't think I gave it enough time to turn off. Either way, any company that stands behind their products and goes the extra miles gets 5 stars in my book. Also, they said they are going to be adding weight to the units very soon. I am now planning on ordering some of the smaller buddies without the light. Looking forward to getting them. Thanks You Cord Buddy for the follow up.I purchased the Cord Buddy "Glow" for use with two Apple Lightening charger cables. I purchased this product along with a Cord Buddy "Basic". Whereas I couldn't be happier with the Cord Buddy "Basic" (see my review of that product), I don't have same enthusiasm for it's larger cousin. The Cord Buddy "Glow" holds my cords in place adequately enough. However, when it's time to charge my iPhone or iPad, it's always a struggle to pull the slack in the cable through the Cord Buddy "Glow". Likewise, when the charging has completed, it's another struggle pushing the cables back through the product. I also think the "Glow" light on this product is rather gimmicky and fairly useless. So if you need to hold multiple cables in place, the Cord Buddy "Glow" may be the option you need. But if you want a Cord Buddy for use with single cable, the Cord Buddy "Basic" is by far the superior choice. The function of the object is fine, it does hold cables (even my thick HDMI cable) without fear of them coming out or sliding around too much. However I have a few criticisms- it is not made of metal, the "brushed steel" look is just printed on the plastic, fairly low resolution at that (the printed look is recognizable at arm's length). The led's are not very bright- sufficient to find the cables, but not great illumination for say, actually plugging in a mini USB to the bottom of your phone. Without a battery in, it's top heavy and feels a bit too light. It takes two AA batteries which bring it's total mass up enough to feel secure against the pull of the cables. The two magnets holding the lid are ~3/4" each and are quite secure (the lid remains secured if you pick it up by a cable). Overall I am happy with this purchase, and would recommend it to others.I use the Cord Buddy's for their original purpsoe (charger cords) but also to corral blind cords from clacking when windows are open and blinds are up on breezy days. This one works well for the charger cords but is light weight (all plastic). The white, single cord holders, are heavy enough not to blow away so I was surprised that this was so light weight. I have not bought another like this because of the light weight. It gets knocked off the desk in the kitchen once in a while. Which is why it has four stars not five. It does have a night light feature which we seldom use but it does emit a soft glow and when guest are around, we do turn it on at night. So this was a request as a gift on a Pinterest page. I decided it looked interesting and purchesed it for them. They it was opened, it's beauty and function was well received. The split top is held in place with strong magnets. the overall weight assists in cable management! It's flat metal finish makes it a nice visual addition to the table or desk where it's placed. What an additional surprise to have a light powered by 2 AA batteries and motion sensing.Yeah, Impressed! Yes they Fully Enjoy! The cord buddy does essentially what it it designed to do but has some serious shortcomings. First, the base is not heavy enough to not move when extending the cords so you have to hold it down with your other hand making using it a bit awkward. Making the feet a bit stickier would also help. The motion activated light doesn't work properly so can't use. I use the Cord Buddy in the bedroom so thought a motion activated light would be handy when entering the room in the dark. Well, the range on the motion sensor is too short so the light does not come on when entering the room. But then, the light comes on randomly when there is no motion in the room at all. The light is quite bright so when it comes on in the middle of the night, it wakes me up. Bottom line is I had to turn the light off. Without the light and sufficient weight, I'm sure I could have found a cord holder for a lot less than the $20 this item cost.Bought two for my parents they love them. The motion light is not to bright and holds all their charging cords. Couldn't be more pleased. It works very good.. it is just that the middle cover which protects the circuits unglued from the base so sometimes when I open the top to place a cable, the middle cover comes off too. It is no big deal, it works perfectly.UPDATE JULY 27TH, 2015I added a 4th star since Customer Service got in touch fairly quick with me after posting my comment and offering a replacement. Good customer service is always appreciated and deserves a star.
